NIDO PROGRAM (Birth - 18 months)

The NIDO (Italian for NEST) is a facilitated playgroup designed to provide a specially prepared Montessori environment for your infant. This carefully arranged space supports the developing independence, movement, and cognitive growth of children from birth to approximately 18 months, in the essential presence of a parent or caregiver.

Environment: A calm, beautiful space featuring age appropriate, real-world materials that foster concentration and purposeful activity.

Approach: We focus on respecting the child’s natural developmental timeline, offering them freedom within limits to explore and master movement (e.g. reaching, turning, crawling, walking). A trained Montessori guide facilitates the session, offering practical advice and demonstrations.

Outcomes for the Child:

By participating in the NIDO program, your child will have the opportunity to develop crucial foundations for lifelong learning:

  • Enhanced Gross Motor Skills: Development of controlled, purposeful movement through an environment that encourages natural progression.

  • Refined Fine Motor Skills & Coordination: Opportunities to manipulate objects, transfer, grasp, and refine hand-eye coordination.

  • Developing Independence: The freedom to choose activities and repeat them, building confidence and the ability to concentrate.

  • Language Acquisition: Exposure to rich, intentional language used by the guide and caregiver, linking words to concrete experiences.

  • A Sense of Calm and Order: The prepared environment offers a predictable, orderly structure that helps the infant build internal security and understand their world.

Benefits for the Parents:

The NIDO is as much for the parent as it is for the child, providing support, education, and community:

  • Understanding the Montessori Philosophy: Learn practical strategies for integrating Montessori principles into your home life to support your child’s natural development and independence.

  • Guidance and Support: Direct access to a trained Montessori guide who can offer personalized observation, guidance, and answers regarding common infant challenges.

  • Practical Parenting Skills: Gain insights into preparing a safe and stimulating home environment, learning how to observe your child effectively, and knowing when and how to intervene.

  • Like-Minded Community: Connecting with other parents in a shared conscious environment, fostering a commitment to child-centered parenting.

Schedule: 9:15 AM - 10:45 AM

Cost: $40 per session
